101 Perfect Names for Your RV or Camper Trailer | Camper Report (1)

RV names say a lot about us. If you just bought a new one, these 101 perfect names for your RV or camper trailer can help you decide on the best RV name to describe your new four-wheeled friend.

How to Name Your RV

Whether you just bought a motorhome, camper trailer, or van, you are about to set off on great adventures. Over time, you will get to know every inch of your home on wheels. For now, your first impressions of the RV can inspire you to come up with a great name. Pick one that suits your RV’s capabilities as an adventure buddy. Our list of 101 perfect names for your RV or camper trailer can help you decide.

101 Perfect Names for Your RV or Camper Trailer

An easy way to think about choosing a great RV name is to think like a sea captain. Boat names often inspire adventure, fun, and sometimes a family vibe. There’s usually a pun in there, too.

1. Adventure

You could just cut out the middle man and name your RV Adventure. That way, you and your family can say, “We went on an ‘Adventure’ this weekend,” or, “Yeah, we go on an ‘Adventure’ every month.”

It’s a great inside joke.

2. Totally Hitched

Of course, this name is a great joke, because every RVer knows the pain of finding a trailer hitch in the dark with our shin. But there is a double meaning here because once you start trying out the RV lifestyle, you never go back, and you’re so Totally Hitched.

If you’re a long-time married couple, you can work in that meaning too!

3. Whatever State You Live In or Are From (Or Country, County, City, Street, Region, Ect.)

This almost feels like a cop out, but when you are driving through the desert in California or Arizona, it is nice to have a reminder of your hometown somewhere where they’ve heard of the concept of water.

So whenever you see your RV with the name The Pacific Northwest or Kentucky plastered on the side, you can partake in a healthy dose of nostalgia.

4. The Highway

“My way or The Highway.” Enough said there.

5. Switchback

There’s a phrase that says, “Keep calm and don’t cut the switchbacks.” Sometimes people are so anxious to get somewhere that they forget to enjoy the journey, or even worse, they end up messing stuff up in their haste.

So with an RV named Switchback, you’ll have a reminder to enjoy the journey and that sometimes slowing down isn’t always a bad thing.

6. The Wayfarer

Often times, full-time RVers admit that they are just sort of wandering around. They enjoy the freedom they can get from this nomadic kind of life!

This name is a fitting tribute to your lifestyle.

7. Mile Marker [Fill in the Blank]

Pick a mile marker that is important to you for some reason. Maybe you had your first break down just a mile out of Seattle. Or maybe your 1000th mile in your RV was passing the 50th-mile marker in Illinois.

Your RV will be a welcome reminder of your adventures.

8. The Voyager

This is a pretty basic name to name your RV. You are on a Voyage after all. Maybe you’re searching for happiness, or an escape from the dreaded nine to five, or a weekend trip to the beach.

The point still stands, this RV is the vehicle that will take you to your dream destination.

9. Wanderlust

101 Perfect Names for Your RV or Camper Trailer | Camper Report (2)

Again, this is a pretty basic name. I’m thinking this is a name for the girls of the group. The biggest thing I remember about high school was all the girls who would say “I just want to travel the world” when asked about their goals in life and caption their social media posts with #Wanderlust.

Regardless, if you own an RV, you most definitely can be diagnosed with some pretty hardcore wanderlust. Embrace it, have fun, and turn your RV into the very embodiment of your adventuring spirit.

10. Class C (Pronounced: “Classy”)

This pun just makes you happy, doesn’t it? If you own a Class C motorhome (basically a converted van), then this name will appeal to your funnier side.

11. Your Last Name Couples With a World Like “Mobile”

As a person who RVs with my family, there is something satisfying about naming an RV something like the Johnson Mobile. It makes me remember the purpose I bought the RV for in the first place.

I want to have adventures with my family, and with them with me, my RV can truly feel like a home away from home. So pack up the Johnson Mobile and let’s get out of here!

12. Mount [Insert Favorite Mountain Here]

The RV completely encapsulates the adventuring spirit, and nothing encapsulates that spirit better than mountaineering. Chances are, if you are RVing, you are also camping, swimming, and hiking.

Pick your favorite mountain and name your camper after it. Plus, Mount Kita and Mount Tai are just cool names.

13. The War Hawk or The Dove (Depending on Your Political Leanings)

Besides being cool names, naming your RV The War Hawk or The Dove also shows your political leanings. And we all know how much people want to show off their beliefs in the most public fashion nowadays.

What could be better than plastering yours on the side of your home on wheels?

14. Pick a Color

Pick your favorite color or the color that your RV is painted. Then simply work that color into your RV name. Big Blue, Little Red, Burgandy Joy (okay, maybe that one is reaching just a bit), the list goes on.

Have some fun and be creative. This name also won’t need to be explained to anyone! It’s as clear as the paint on the side.

15. Sun Chaser

If you own an RV and are attached enough to it to name it, chances are that you are traveling around in it a lot. You’re probably chasing something: your dream, a destination, that darn dog that keeps running away when you’re not looking.

Sun Chaser seems an appropriate name for the one who keeps chasing something better.

16. Moon Dancer

If you’re more of a romantic type and like to take the RV out for star-gazing nights and lazy weekends, maybe you want to name your RV something more laid back and mellow.

Moon Dancer is the sister name to Sun Chaser and will do just a good a job at conveying the right personality.

101 Perfect Names for Your RV or Camper Trailer | Camper Report (3)

17. The Burrow

This name could be referencing the famous house from Harry Potter, the small donkey, or the home rabbits make for themselves. Either way, this name conveys the “home away from home” feeling. Plus, who doesn’t think donkeys are the absolute cutest?

18. Pick an Animal

If you have a favorite animal, don’t hesitate to name your RV after it. I knew a gal who had a huge horse ranch and her RV was proudly titled The Mustang. But if you love bears or orcas, name your RV The Grizzly, or Free Willy.

19. Wander Woman

Here’s another pun for you. If you are a woman embarking on her solo RV trip (or you’re just the one picking the name), then why don’t you name your RV after the greatest female superhero ever to grace the comic book page: Wonder Woman.

Of course, to make it more your own, switch out a letter and better convey your wanderlust.

20. Happy Glamper

Okay, last cringy pun, I promise. Most people view camping in a camper as not actual camping; they prefer the term “glamping.” So why not embrace it and give a popular phase your own little twist?

21. Trailer Trash

If you’re going to be staying in trailer parks, you might as well embrace that as well and just go ahead and name your RV Trailer Trash. If you’re more of a fan of self-deprecating humor, this may be perfect!

But don’t worry, you and I know you’re not actually trailer trash. Your RV is spotless! But the name is still kind of funny.

22. Hot Mess

I know I always feel like a Hot Mess when it’s day five of my camping trip and I haven’t showered in a few days and the sink is starting to pile up with the dishes from last night I haven’t washed yet and the dog is running around inside the RV after jumping in the muddy lake and getting the couch all wet and dirty.

Sometimes glamping isn’t as glamorous as we make it out to be. So I might as well give my camper the appropriate name.

23. The Hairpin

It’s pretty common knowledge, and a pretty common complaint, that campers and RVs can’t make turns very easily especially tight turns. But sometimes you just want to go for it.

Well, if you have a scar, you have a story, right? So naming your RV The Hairpin is a good way to show off your spirit and zeal.

24. Low Beam or High Beam (Pick Your Poison)

Maybe you’re a high flying, thrill-seeking RVer or maybe you’re more of a laid back, go with the flow kind of guy. Pick the name that suits you best. High Beam for “grab life by the horns” and Low Beam for “see what life brings.”

25. Puppy

Okay, I lied, there’s another pun. Say you told your wife you’re going to buy her a puppy. Then you get an RV and name it Puppy. You didn’t lie, did you?

26. The Dog House

If you pulled the stunt in the previous name idea, chances are your wife is probably pretty upset. You could even say you’re sleeping in The Dog House.

27. Cabin Fever

Staying cooped up in a classic suburban house for weeks can start to give you Cabin Fever. The cure? Jump aboard your aptly named RV and take a trip.

Personality is a Must in the Best RV Names

Perhaps the best way, in my opinion anyway, to name your camper or RV is to name it based on a little quirk it has. Here are a few quirks that I’ve experienced, read about, or thought up and the corresponding name suggestions.

(Video) Top 10 Beginner RV Mistakes (And How To AVOID Them!) || RV Living

28. Ms. Frizzle

Maybe you always feel a little frazzled when you are trying to plan for a trip in your RV (like Ms. Frizzle’s great ginger afro) or maybe you can just always plan on an adventure when you hop into your RV. Either way, Ms. Frizzle seems to fit.

29. Big Bones

Let’s face it, she’s big, she’s ugly, and she’s loud. But she’s been around for much longer than you ever thought she would be. Turning corners may be harder than normal, but you love good ole Big Bones, and you make sure she knows it.

30. Squeaker

For some reason, no matter how much WD-40 you use, your rig still manages to squeak while you drive. The problem is: it will only squeak after you’ve let your guard down, and you can never exactly pinpoint where the squeak is coming from.

31. Gypsy

She’s a wandering spirit, always drifting to the left or the right. Better keep a good grip on that wheel. Besides that, no matter how much you clean her, she always manages to look more at home in a Gypsy caravan than in an RV park.

32. Guzzler

The salesman said it was the most fuel efficient rig on the market, but you are kind of tired of you gas station receipts sporting five figure charges all the time.

33. Betsy and 34. Bertha and 35. Bettie and 36. Bessie

These classic names were used to name horses, the original mode of transportation. It seems only natural that we would continue to name our current transportation after them.

37. The Tank

Your rig is huge. You’re pretty sure that if you ever got into an accident, your RV wouldn’t even have a chip in the paint job.

38. Oopsie

You broke down. Again.

39. Captain

Oh, you planned a perfect road trip? Too bad, you’re not the Captain of this rig. Your RV is really the one in charge. What it says is the final word.

40. Lady

She is very particular, and if you don’t fill her up at exactly a quarter of a tank (not any earlier, not any later), she’ll start to fritz out. And make sure you always have new tires and drive two inches inside the line on the far right of the lane.

But don’t worry, once you figure out her little quirks, driving her really isn’t that bad, and you start to really love her.

41. Atlas

He is definitely a world traveler at heart (at engine?). He’s willing to try out that narrow street or that dirt road. He knows the route like the back of his hand (back of his rearview mirror?) and is always ready to go.

Like the Greek hero, he carries the weight of the trip and you don’t have to worry about a thing.

42. Taz

Your camper or RV has a taste for speed and excitement that usually ends up getting both of you into bad situations.

43. Fine Wine

It gets better with age, right?

44. Old Faithful

Your camper or RV is completely reliable- it breaks down every 300 miles. Like clockwork. But you always get where you need to go.

45. Betty Boop

She’s sexy, classic, and universally sought after. You made a good choice here.

46. Maverick

Driving him, you feel kind of like Maverick from Top Gun- completely in control and having the time of your life.

47. Goose

Driving him, you feel like of like Goose from Top Gun- definitely the copilot but still having the time of your life.

48. The Blues Mobile

He’s smooth and classic, like jazz music. All you need now is a hippie scarf to tie around the rearview mirror and a few Benny Goodman CD’s (because The Blues Mobile still has one of those).

49. King or Queen

Breaking down is for vehicles of lower class. This rig is a Class A, above all the rest. When you’re driving down the road, you feel like your trucker hat just got replaced with a crown.

50. Prince Charming

All the ladies want to talk to you when you’re standing in front of your RV grilling up some dinner. He has a certain charm they can’t seem to resist.

Name Your RV as a Memorial

101 Perfect Names for Your RV or Camper Trailer | Camper Report (5)

A lot of the time, people want to name their vehicles after their favorite character from a book or show, or name them after a famous vehicle from pop culture. Here is a list of some of the most famous vehicles out there.

51. Bumblebee and 52. Optimus Prime

The Transformers series has been around for a long time, and these are very classic characters. Sometimes you feel as if your RV has a mind of its own anyway. So pick your favorite Transformer and run with it!

Doctor Who has spanned generations, all the way back to 1963, and the TARDIS is a vehicle recognized by almost anybody. It seems a fitting name since your RV can take you anywhere in time and space (changing time zones counts).

54. Santa Poco

The Three Amigos film may be a little more uncommon, but the village of Santa Poco is an important village to many childhoods.

So when you start traveling around on a house on wheels, why not name it after the home you visited so often on television?

55. The DeLorean

Ah, Back to the Future, the birthplace of hoverboards and self lacing shoes. We couldn’t have gotten there without the DeLorean, and who knows where else she can take us?

56. The Banshee and 57. The Warthog and 58. The Mongoose and 59. The Scorpion

For those fans of Halo, I present the most famous vehicles across the many, many installments. Also good if you just happen to be a fan of these animals/ mythological creatures.

60. The Ford Anglia

I know your rig is not a Ford, but the Ford Anglia from Harry Potter is so fantastic, I’m not sure the model of your RV really matters that much in the grand scheme of things.

61. General Lee

The Dukes of Hazzard is a highly contested TV show, but nobody can deny the importance of the General Lee car from that show. So classic.

62. Tokyo Drift

With yet another Fast and Furious installment on the way, how about honoring the best movie in the bunch by naming your RV after Tokyo Drift? I can almost hear my younger brother gasping for joy.

63. Serenity

We only got one season of Firefly, but it was incredible while it lasted. One of the best RV names can bring that feeling into your RV by naming it after the spaceship Serenity. Each time you roam, you’ll feel like your Firefly favorite characters moving stolen goods across space.

64. The Millennium Falcon and 65. The X Wing

You can’t talk about pop culture without mentioning Star Wars at least once or twice.

66. Herbie

Take it back to the Eighties and the best personified slug bug that ever existed.

67. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Sticking with the “retro” vibe, pay homage to your favorite flying car musical.

68. The Helicarrier

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles might be adolescent mutants, but they sure did know how to eat and have adventures. A little part of you still wants to do that, and with your new Party Wagon, maybe you can.

71. USS Enterprise

Another franchise that has been going on since before your parents were born. The USS Enterprise and its mission, “to boldly go where no man has gone before,” are a perfect fit for you and your RV.

101 Perfect Names for Your RV or Camper Trailer | Camper Report (6)

The hunt for Red October is over, because you’ve finally found the right RV for you and your family. And you’re ready to get off the grid and have some adventures.

73. The Batmobile

It never gets old saying “To the Batmobile, kids!”

74. The Black Pearl

“Wherever we want to go, we go. That’s what a ship is, you know. It’s not just a keel and a hull and sails; that’s what a ship needs. Not what a ship is. What the Black Pearl really is, is freedom.” -Jack Sparrow

Just replace “ship” with “RV” and you’re good to go.

75. Spirit

I know he is technically a horse, but he’s still a favorite mode of transportation.

76. Orient Express

A fan of Agatha Christie, murder mysteries, or just the movie? Well put together your own adventure on your very own Orient Express (just no murder this time, promise?).

77. Road Warrior

Great movie, even better car.

78. Ecto 1

Who you gonna call? What you gonna call your RV?

Pet Names Make the Best RV Names Too

Let’s face it: your RV is now part of the family. Almost like your dog. So it makes total sense for you to name your RV or camper the same way you name your pet.

(Video) What Can You ACTUALLY Tow? Payload -Tow Capacity - Travel Trailer

It doesn’t have to be a name that makes sense (like Lola) because after all, the best dog I’ve ever met was named Jolly Rancher.

79. Poncho

I knew a foxhound named Poncho once, and he was the sweetest dog ever. I would name my RV Poncho in a heartbeat. After all, it does give you shelter when it rains.

80. Butler

Your RV waits on your every need and provides you will all your camping necessities, plus some. Almost like your own personal Alfred Pennyworth (which, thinking of it, would also make a great name for an RV).

81. Candy

Because your RV is not a person, you can get away with naming it Candy without implying that it is usually a show name. An RV named Candy just sounds sweet (pun intended).

82. Bubbles

My first camper was tiny, and it had a really thin roof. So every time it rained, it sounded like there were little bubbles popping up on the roof above me while I slept. Bubbles would have been a good name for that camper.

Or maybe your camper just has a bubbly sort of feel. Or maybe it looks like a fish. Who knows? I’ve never seen your camper.

83. Crisco

Maybe your camper is Crisco white, or maybe it has the ability to slip through small spaces you thought for sure you’d get stuck in. Plus Crisco is just a cute name for a pet.

84. Buffy

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was always awesome, don’t you agree? Well I don’t see anything wrong with naming your rough and tough camper after this fantastic character.

85. Felix

I just like the name Felix, don’t you?

86. Oslo

Oslo is the capital city of Norway. “Os lo” also means “I will” in Spanish. So choose the more important meaning out of the two translations for you.

87. Birdie

Maybe your camper makes you feel as free as a bird. Build on that feeling.

88. Ike

Ike sounds cute.

89. Bandit

Your camper has a tendency to steal you away. You always feel like you and your camper are trying to sneak away from the daily grind of the average life.

Bandit is one of the best RV names because it’s an appropriate title for your partner in crime.

90. Booster and 91. Buster

These are just trusty pet names and I don’t think they will ever go out of style. They evoke feelings of friendliness, security, and reliability.

92. Gadget or Gidget

These are another set of classic names for your pet, both the mechanical and the flesh and blood.

It seems even more appropriate to name your RV Gadget than your dog, seeing as your RV actually has moving machine parts.

93. Bugsy

If your camper or RV has gigantic headlights or a large, color tinted front windshield, it seems only natural that the name Bugsy would spring to mind.

94. Caesar

Your RV is the king of the road, and it will die along the way, more than once. Remind you of a certain historical figure? Et tu, Brute?

95. Stella

Stella is a popular name for vehicles across the United States. Many cats are also named Stella. In the venn diagram of life, I think this counts as a win.

96. Cindy

Your RV can transform into your carriage and whisk you away to having a ball this weekend. Just like it did for good old Cindy back in 1627.

101 Perfect Names for Your RV or Camper Trailer | Camper Report (7)

97. Ginger

I’ve met boys named Ginger, and I’ve met girls named Ginger, and I’ve met cars named Ginger, and I’ve met parrots named Ginger. An all purpose name for an all purpose vehicle. Perfect.

100. Pilot

Sometimes you pick the destinations, and sometimes your camper breaks down in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and you end up spending your vacation there instead.

(Video) RV 101® - Hitching & Unhitching a Travel Trailer with a Weight Distribution Hitch

Sometimes you’re in charge, and sometimes the real Pilot is the RV.

101. Pookie

People have a habit of getting attached to their RV. A little too attached. Affectionate nicknames start slipping out, and before you know it, your RV is forever called Pookie.

Why do people name their RVs and boats? People often name their recreational vehicles because it allows them to ‘talk” to their RV or boat when they are complaining, questioning, or cursing. All vehicles get “sick” and have quirks just like other pets. It almost seems natural to name it. About 25% of Americans actually name their cars.
